Progress Beats Perfection

Progress Beats Perfection

Everything worthwhile takes time. It requires you to be patient.

If business success was easy you wouldn’t have an appreciation for it. Have you heard of the saying, “Easy come, easy go.” ? The easier you obtain something the easier you’ll lose something, because your care factor will be low.

Your business journey will be filled with ups and downs, and throughout it all you need to stay patient, and committed to your objectives.

Also, you need to play a long game. It takes time to build a brand, add consistent value, and ultimately create a successful business. In 2021, your potential clients are more wary than ever of businesses simply looking to sell them something. Don’t be one of these.

Over the years of being a business coach, I have seen too many business owners hold themselves back from executing because they wait for everything to be perfect. As a result some great business ideas never get off the ground. You don’t want to be the business owner or entrepreneur who looks back in 10 years time and wishes that you’d taken action back in 2020.

High standards is a good thing. Perfectionism is not. None of us will ever be perfect.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.

Here are some tips that I often offer during  my Brisbane executive coaching to help clients deal with perfectionistic thinking:

  1. Good enough is ‘great’
  2. Compare yourself to yourself
  3. Accept that you are human and so is everyone else

Progression is always better than perfection.
